Through The Garden
On a magical midsummer's morning; perfectly still and clear with the fresh scent of flowers and foliage in the air, quiet but for birdsong, gossamer traces of dew on fennels and alliums and with the warmth of the early morning sun on my face, it was truly entrancing to be in the High Garden at Great Dixter.

Poppies At Dawn
I first saw these poppies from a distance, glowing on Winchelsea Levels. I set my alarm for stupid o'clock the following morning and was greeted by this glorious dawn display of delicate ephemeral beauty!

Astrantia ‘Roma’
Astrantia 'Roma' produces a mass of lovely, incredibly long-lasting, pink flowers with green veining during the summer months.

Another beautiful morning at Dixter with the low morning sun just catching these lovely poppies; a mix of Welsh poppies and 'Beth's poppies' glowing against the darker background of the Sunk Garden.

Rose at Sunrise
A beautiful pink rose - 'Cécile Brünner' - captured in full flower soon after sunrise, glowing in the early morning light. The air was fresh, light and so fragrant; it was heavenly and a delight to be up that early!

Poppy – Papaver commutatum ‘Ladybird’
Sauntering round the garden, camera in hand, all the poppies were glowing but this one caught my eye in particular; a perfect red poppy iridescent in the morning sun.

Touch Down
A lovely painted lady butterfly just alighted on Verbena bonariensis for a sip of nectar. Butterflies love this verbena and at times can dance around it in clouds!

Poppies In The Orchard Garden
The glorious sight of poppies in their pomp! This shot was taken at Great Dixter when the poppies were freshly opened, still crinkly and pristine, backlit by the early morning sun.

Lathyrus grandiflorus
The true, everlasting pea growing in the Long Border at Great Dixter, rambling and scrambling up, through and over it's neighbours! These beautiful, delicate flowers were captured early one summer's morning.

Foxgloves At Dawn
Captured early one summer's morning these foxgloves shimmered with dew and the dawn light. A piece of coppiced woodland cleared the year before had liberated copious foxglove seeds to produce a truly memorable sight!

A Fine Balance
I found this fella whilst photographing a friend's garden. Concentrating to keep his balance on a Pulsatilla seedhead, he seemed oblivious of me and my camera. His face always makes me smile!
